BRAT is a theater production, promotion and research company founded in 2015 in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

It deals with popular theater, understood as a critical mirror of reality, as a cultural fact and as a means to enhance the human being. A theater rooted in ritual and celebration, based on sharing and constant dialogue with the audience, and on the concept of artistic craftsmanship in which art and craft meet.

From 2015 to the present, the company has produced several shows ranging from Commedia dell’Arte, puppet theater for children, masquerade, street, musical, scenic readings.

It makes original masks for its own and other companies’ productions including: Febo Teatro, Teatro della Granguardia, Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo, Pantakin da Venezia and Fondazione Teatro La Fenice for which he also makes puppets and masks.

In 2020 We initiated the Fri.Co – Friuli in Commedia project with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the collaboration of Pantakin from Venice, which includes the production of the show MALACARNE La ballata dell’amore e del potere and a series of mask use and construction workshops in Italy and abroad.

It is also a partner in other projects financed by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, such as ArtInVilla of the Music Academy City of Palmanova, with production and dissemination of performances in the area’s historic villas, and Cura,ae care destinations of the Theatre of Silence, with an exhibition of its own masks and demonstration of work, and a series of mask-use workshops.

He also takes part in projects with social aims such as Edilmaster’s GeneraAzione Urbana, part of the AttivaGiovani program of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia financed by the European Social Fund, for the development of self-entrepreneurship in unemployed young people in the suburbs of Trieste; and Family Welfare by Athena: City of Psychology, based on the theme of dementia, with the production of a spectacular lecture and workshop for caregivers.

Conducts theater courses aimed at all age groups, collaborating with other theatrical entities such as Speakeasy Teatro OFF and educational institutions, social cooperatives and municipal administrations.

Since 2016, he has been collaborating with the Scottish collective Secret Ministry through mutual artistic exchanges and hospitality, and producing performances in both countries, gaining support from the Italian Cultural Institute in Edinburgh.

Since the same year he has also been collaborating with the Theatre Royal in Dumfries, Scotland, for which he has conducted various Commedia dell’Arte workshops for theater students and teachers. In addition, thanks to the support of The Holywood Trust, he has the opportunity to perform the BRAT show Harlequin and the Miser in Dumfries.

BRAT runs a space where it conducts intensive theater courses and workshops with masters international such as V. Olshansky (Cirque du Soleil clown), A. Iurissevich, G. De Marchi, G. Bonanni, M. M. Casarin.
